Welding Trailer FAQ

On-Site began selling welding trailers in the spring of 2002.  Since then we have compiled some of the questions that our customers and potential customers have asked that are not addressed in the product pages.

I have been looking at a trailer from Miller or Lincoln, why wouldn't I want to use a trailer manufactured for their welder?

For one thing the narrow frame gives the whole unit a high center of gravity with a welder mounted.  Other than that we don't see much else wrong with trailers offered by either manufacturer, expect that they are simply trailers for the welding machine only.  On-Site trailers are a complete job-site solution for working at the job site, not just getting the welder to the job site.

My local home improvement super center has a cheap trailer that I could use for a welding trailer, why shouldn't I go with it instead?

Well you said the operative word, cheap.  Those trailers are great for light cargo , but for a $3,000 welding machine?  Keep in mind that their trailers are built from "C" channel or light steel tubing,  wooden floors, and light weight axles.  Our trailers feature heavy steel tubing frames with 10ga. steel floorplate, and nothing less than 3500# spring mounted axles underneath.

Wait a minute, you are trying to sell a welding trailer to a welder.  Can't I build my own?

Sure.  When?

Why do you mount the worktables to the front?

Because mounting them to the rear makes access from the rear impossible.  However, we do recognize that some people would prefer to have the worktable mounted to the rear as in The Shop Hand series.
